Last night, the winners of the Moneyfacts Consumer Awards 2018 were announced at an exclusive ceremony held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. In front of a room packed with industry professionals, comedian Ellie Taylor revealed who this year's standout performers were.

Not just providers are celebrating

An important part of deciding who took home the crowns was the survey that was filled in by you. This year's consumer survey shattered our previous record, with over 160,000 individuals wanting to have their say.

"We are delighted with the large volume of replies to the Moneyfacts Consumer Survey, making it the most comprehensive of its kind," Jayms Brooks, senior digital marketing manager at moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said. "The overwhelming response to the survey is a testament to the financially savvy consumers that visit our website."

While we appreciate you giving us your insight into the providers that have made your year better, we also like to give something back. That's why three survey respondents have been picked at random to receive a whopping cash prize of £1,000.

Understandably, a lot of our prize winners are rather shocked when they get the call, and this year's lucky individuals are no different. Penny Grundy, one of our three winners, told us: "I was delighted to receive the telephone call to say that I was one of the winners. While I was dubious initially, thinking that it was a marketing ploy, I was reassured that it was real."

She intends to use the prize money to help her purchase a house – the best of luck with that, Penny! Other winners have used their £1,000 for holidays or birthday treats. Aside from getting your voice heard on the quality of the financial products that you use, there's clearly other perks to be gained from taking part in our annual consumer survey.

Best in class

It's not only the consumers who get to decide who wins, however. The Moneyfacts Consumer Awards combine honest consumer feedback with technically elite products, to reveal the best all-rounder. The best products are not always the cheapest; Moneyfacts expert analysis is used to reveal those products that have the best features and benefits.

"Your honest feedback, alongside our technical knowledge, means that this year's Moneyfacts Consumer Awards is multifaceted in the way that it recognises not just the best products, but excellent service as well," Jayms concluded. "This year's finalists and winners should all be proud of their achievements."

Standout winners were Halifax, who took home two wins, one highly commended and three commended trophies; first direct, who had the honour of becoming the Online Banking Provider of the Year while also getting three highly commended trophies; and Virgin Money, who won as High Street Savings Provider of the Year and got two highly commended and one commended trophies to boot. Awards categories ran the gamut from Best Claims Service (which was entirely decided by your survey responses) to Travel Money Provider of the Year, with all manner of insurance, mortgage and savings trophies up for grabs.

So, whatever you are looking to get in the near future, whether it's an insurance policy or new mortgage, why not have a look at the winners below to see which providers have proven that their product truly stands out from the crowd. Congratulations to all our winners – providers and consumers alike – and we'll see you again next year!
